At this point, nothing Russell Westbrook does should surprise us, but every now and then, he pulls off something so outrageous that we’re just left scratching our heads and wondering whether he’s actually a real live mortal or some basketball-playing cyborg sent from the future to destroy us.
That’s what happened against the Rockets on Wednesday night with this ridiculous play. Late in the third quarter, Westbrook saw the double-team coming at the top of the key but was still somehow able to split both defenders by throwing it through Nene’s legs and finishing it off at the rim with a wild, double-clutch layup over James Harden.
