Flyers’ Scott Laughton Was Stretchered Off After This Brutal Collision With The Boards

A very scary scene unfolded in the first period of Wednesday’s Game 4 between the Flyers and Capitals in Philadelphia that resulted in Scott Laughton being stretchered off the ice.

The 21-year-old Flyers forward was in hard pursuit of a puck when he was checked by the Capitals’ John Carlson, sending him sliding hard into the lower portion of the boards behind the Washington net. Laughton moved a little bit immediately following the collision but remained flat and mostly motionless on the ice. The medical staff seemed to paying careful attention to his back until he was placed on a stretcher and taken off the ice for further evaluation and treatment.

Luckily, after being transported to the hospital, all tests came back negative. Laughton would stay overnight for precautionary reasons, but thankfully it looks like he escaped the incident without doing any severe damage.
