‘The Hurt Business’ With Ronda Rousey, Jon Jones And Other UFC Stars Is A Chilling Look At Fight Culture

To say that the UFC has had a bad week would be a bit of an understatement. Hell, you could say it’s simply what we’ve come to expect from Dana White’s Bad News Machine. The MMA promotion was already having a hard enough time keeping fighters healthy or drug-free, and that was on top of its biggest star losing her title and the next biggest star retiring from being a dancing monkey. Now, the UFC has been “saved” by Anderson Silva stepping in to fight Daniel Cormier on short notice at UFC 200, after Jon Jones tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs before what could have been his return to championship glory. Oh well.

So, how can things get worse for the UFC, other than Brock Lesnar revealing that his big return was just a joke? Well, the trailer for the documentary The Hurt Business isn’t going to win the UFC (or MMA in general) any new fans. Current and former stars like Jones, Ronda Rousey, Georges St-Pierre, and Tito Ortiz, among others, discuss MMA’s rise from a “taboo” and violent sport to the mainstream, but they also dive into the mental health of fighters and how subjecting themselves to such violence affects them over the length of their careers. It is sure to be an eye-opener.

The Hurt Business doesn’t have a release date yet, but is expected out this fall.
