UFC 203 Results: Miocic Retains His Heavyweight Belt, CM Punk Gets Destroyed

Ohio witnessed the disappointing (yet expected) UFC debut of CM Punk and saw their very own Stipe Miocic defend his heavyweight title in a hard-hitting heavyweight title fight. It was a fun night of fights that wasn’t without controversy and history.

Main Card

—Stipe Miocic def. Alistair Overeem via KO (round 1). This was a hell of a back and forth battle. Check out the full results (and the possible controversy) here.

—Fabrício Werdum def.Travis Browne via unanimous decision. This was another one-sided Werdum/Browne fight, except this one opened with a flying jump kick and ended with a near brawl between Werdum and Browne’s coaches.

—Mickey Gall def. CM Punk via rear naked choke (round 1). This was domination, as expected. You can see the darn thing here.

—Jimmie Rivera def. Urijah Faber via unanimous decision. Faber had his leg destroyed by Rivera, and was dealing with a possible broken hand during the fight. It wasn’t a great outing for the former WEC champ, but it was a gritty one. In victory, Rivera couldn’t believe he beat a legend who he watched fighting before he was a pro. This is Rivera’s 19th straight win.

—Jéssica Andrade def. Joanne Calderwood via guillotine choke (round 1).

Prelims

—Bethe Correia def. Jessica Eye via split-decision. The Ohio crowd was booing loudly at the decision, considering Eye is a Cleveland native, but Bethe does it again by showing that Diego Sanchez aggression.

—Nik Lentz def. Michael McBride via TKO (round 2).

—Brad Tavares def. Caio Magalhães via split-decision.

—Drew Dober def. Jason Gonzalez via TKO (round 1). Check out this display of pure berzerker aggression (the mouthpiece goes flying with the last punch).

Fight Pass Prelims

—Yancy Medeiros def. Sean Spencer via rear naked choke submission (round 2). It was a submission win, but Medeiros got it done with his strikes.
