Things Went Horribly Wrong For Western Kentucky During Pregame Introductions

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers completely trounced the Rice Owls in their season opener Thursday. They won 46-14. Even though they lost prolific quarterback Brandon Doughty to graduation, the new man under center Mike White threw for over 500 yards and three touchdowns. Yes, everything during the game pretty much went right for Western Kentucky. Before the game was a different story, though.

The Hilltoppers were ready and raring to go, waiting to run out from the tunnel to the cheers of their fans. This is something basically every college team does in every home game. Most of these Western Kentucky players have done it several times before. For the season opener, they were probably particularly amped up for the occasion. It was finally time for some game action. All they had to do was get out onto the field without any issues. They did not manage that.

The team runs out of the tunnel, and then one guy trips. No big deal, except there is a tightly packed collection of massive football players running behind him. So then one guy trips over the first guy, and things just fall apart from there. The next thing you know, there is a big pile of players scrambling to get off the ground. Not the big opening to the season they were hoping for. At least the game went well!
