Ronda Rousey Came Out Of Seclusion To Advertise A Limited Edition Bud Light Beer

Shortly before her fateful fight against Holly Holm in Melbourne, Ronda Rousey said she was going to step out of the limelight for a while.

“After this fight, I’m definitely going to let some people miss me,” she told Rolling Stone. “Believe me, there’s nothing I would like to do more than disappear for a while.”

But no one quite expected the disappearing act she pulled after getting knocked out by Holm and losing her UFC bantamweight title. She has popped up sporadically since then, going on that date to the Marine Corps Ball, hosting Saturday Night Live, and appearing nude except for body paint for Sports Illustrated‘s Swimsuit Issue. But her formerly active social media presence has all but ground to a halt, which made this tweet promoting a limited Bud Light beer stand out a little bit when it was posted on Sunday.

Yeah, we get it. Athletes get paid to push these products on their social media. It all just makes us sad that Ronda continues to forsake us while she’s off doing … whatever it is she’s doing. And that’s her prerogative, as well, but us sports fans can still act like suspicious girlfriends about the whole situation.

It’s getting to the point where many people are starting to question whether Rousey plans to actually return to the Octagon and fight again. A jaw injury sustained in her fight against Holly Holm kept her off UFC 200, and now we’ve learned she recently had knee surgery that will keep her from returning at UFC 205 in November as originally planned. What’s going on? Ronda’s knees have been wrecked for years, so this minor scoping job has the suspicious girlfriend in all of us fanboys wondering if there’s something more to the story.

But for now I guess we’ll just have to take a chill pill with a limited edition Bud Light and wait to see how this all shakes out. Fortunately, there are Brock Lesnar and Conor McGregor fights to focus on in the meantime.
