Sorry, wrong person. Tonight, on the With Leather WWE Raw open discussion thread:
Why, HBK, why?
I don’t know, WWE.com, have you ever watched wrestling?
That’s the question heading into tonight’s Raw after Shawn Michaels delivered Sweet Chin Music to Daniel Bryan and allowed Randy Orton to claim the abeyant WWE Championship for himself. But is it a simple answer? The Showstopper’s actions certainly left the WWE Hall of Famer conflicted, and speculation has already begun as to what, exactly, was going through HBK’s mind when he made his fateful decision. With The Authority’s crown jewel restored and Daniel Bryan’s fate uncertain, WWE.com previews tonight’s Raw. (via WWE.com)
Our five-point preview:
1. Be sure to read The Best and Worst of WWE Hell in a Cell 2013 if you haven’t already. John Cena was there, and he LOST. Just kidding.
2. Tonight’s big news is that CM Punk is done with the Paul Heyman feud (maybe?) and can finally move on to do anything else, such as noticing the increase in number of murderous cultist hillbillies, noticing that AJ Lee is currently doing the lady version of the Best in the World storyline or perhaps, I don’t know, helping WWE’s babyfaces fight that evil corporation that took over while Punk was busy.
3. Kane and John Cena make their return to Raw. This is great for people who like characters that’ve been around 15 years, but not so much for the people who like good wrestling matches. The shirts are gonna be hella pink, though, we’ve got one more Raw left in this month, let’s get Cena’s merch on there as much as possible. As merch as possible.
4. Shawn Michaels will reveal why he turned on Daniel Bryan, and I hope the answer is just, “because I’m Shawn Michaels. Pay attention and stop voting me into things.”
5. The Curtis Axel Art Project continues! In last week’s report I asked you to send me a collage of what Curtis Axel means to you, and now that he’s injured, your contributions help more than ever. Post them here or tweet them to me directly at @MrBrandonStroud with the hashtag #CurtisAxelArtProject to make sure I get them. Even if you’ve sent it to me already.
As always, the top 10 comments from tonight’s open discussion thread will be featured in tomorrow’s Best and Worst of WWE Raw report. To nominate a comment for top 10 consideration, please reply to it with a +1.
Enjoy the show, everybody.
what happend
So this Raw was a reset right? It always felt like Bryan was going to feud with the Wyatts until he suddenly got SO OVER that they had to address it (plus, Total Divas) — so now that all of that is out of the way they’ve successfully cooled him off enough that they can go back to where they wanted to be before Summerslam
You know the most disturbing thing about this show? One of the following is true:
A) They gave Sandow the briefcase just to break up Team Rhodes Scholars. 50% of the available briefcases were dedicated to the breakup of a heel team that existed on-again-off-again for less than a year and never held any titles. And that breakup resulted in 1 pay per view blowoff match before being completely forgotten.
B) They had a real plan for Sandow, and decided to scrap it TO PUT JOHN CENA OVER.
If A is true, that’s horrible decision making. You can still break up Rhodes Scholars by having Sandow screw Cody but then still fail to win MITB himself. Then you could use the briefcase to actually accomplish something.
If B is true — I think I can safely skip the next 3-5 years of WWE because Creative thinks John Cena needs to be put over by Damien Sandow.
Anyone notice cena is back to talking like he’s from the hood again? Sorry if someone else called it out.
In the time it took Natalya to lock in the Sharpshooter, I could’ve refilled my ink well, sharpened my quill pen, and treated enough sheets of parchment to write a 10,000-word essay about how long it was taking her to lock in the Sharpshooter.
I thoroughly enjoyed this show.
I’m just catching the HBK on Raw. They moved the foot.
From the sound of things this Raw was so bad they will add commercials from the show to the Hulu version.
Haven’t got a problem with Sandow losing his MITB title shot but its the damn way that he lost that pisses me off. He destroys Cena with multiple shots to the “injured” arm and then gets beat by a lazy assed AA with one arm after dominating the match all so that Cena can overcome the imaginary and downright pathetic odds again??
How can anybody be satisfied with this? Is Sandow ever going to amount to a A+ player after this .(to paraphrase HHH’s terrible analogies).
Did Cena actually hurt his knee? If that was just to give him more odds to overcome, then I’m even more pissed off about that ending.
You’re both right. Great match for Sandow, but the lazy AA kills the ending. The announcer’s always talk about Cena finding a way to win but all he ever finds is the same shit he uses to win all the time.
He looked good in the match and by no means was he buried like others are saying. It makes casual fans take notice of Sandow. Not that the WWE will do anything with this momentum.
HHH: “LOL F*ck you marks, here’s Daniel Bryan and Punk against the Wyatts, safely in Punk’s alternate universe. That’ll teach you not to cheer my retirement speech after Summerslam two years ago. Slow burn.”

I… I couldnt watch after the Cena-gasm.
But from reading what happened, I’m getting that this is where the D-Bry title thing dies, and he and punk feud with the wyatts, right?
Man, the way they keep building up Daniel Bryan only to take the wind out of his sails makes you think George RR Martin is writing his storyline.
If your complaint about tonight’s Raw involves the words “new shirt”, then I hate your opinions.
im still not over sandow losing
Me neither. If I watch Raw next week, it will be like having a romantic dinner with a girlfriend that I know is cheating on me.

The whole time I was telling myself “Shields gonna turn face, Shields gonna turn face, they were actually working undercover for Justice and they assumed Triple H would take this role and now they see they have hired the Wyatts so they have to blow their cover to let justice prevail”
Then I stopped for a second, and I realized: Curtis Axel is on this show.
I still have most of tonights’ RAW to watch, and watchwrestling.net can’t even load part ONE for me. I’ll just go back to preparing for my public speaking class tomorrow, where I will be doing the CM Punk pipebomb speech.
One nice touch they could’ve done was Big Show rip the title in half. But that would probably require a gimmicked belt and I wouldn’t trust Orton not to accidentally break it first.
Now the $64,000 question: does this supplant July 1st as the worst Raw of the year?
Memory refresher: [www.uproxx.com]
Wait for it.
Does this beat Raw #998 for Worst Raw Ever?
PNG,
While you may have a point, it’s lost for me in the shadow of the reemergence of SuperCena.
Real Americans vs Brodhes saved it along with Wyatts attack on CM Punk . Raw 998 sucked on all levels with not even a minor best that happened on that show.
Yeah, if people get over the OMG, CENA WON AGAIN, HE ALWAYS WINS, BLERG stuff, the show wasn’t terrible.
Look, I like Sandow, and I’m sick of Cena; but Sandow– a guy that has lost consistently since wining MITB (and quite a bit before that too)– losing another match isn’t the end of the world. Frankly, MITB is a curse. Ask Swagger and Ziggler, for starters.
Life goes on. It’s not like Sandow got fired. This Raw actually rebounded pretty well, given how upset we were in the beginning.
This is just a trick to get people to mull on the good parts of this RAW, yes? Cause Cena-Sandow minus the finish, Shield vs anybody, Summer Rae still wrestling on main roster, Real Americans vs Brhodes, PTP hawking merch, and the possible beginning of Bryan/Punk vs The Wyatts.
998 was confusingly bad.
Nah…while this one had some bad moments, it had some good ones, too.
#998 was just horrible.
I feel like that ending was Louis C.K. just psyching himself up to suck a dick.
One word to describe tonight’s Raw: Ass.
HHH: I got mind control over Big Show. He be like, “Get out of my ring.” I go. But when he leave, I get back in the ring again.

+1 for Friday reference.

Triple H: Come on, punk. Touch me and I’ll sue
Big Show: Sue me for what?
i feel like everyone was waiting for something interesting to happen… i know i was…
Yup. Instead, they teased us with…what, Big Show against Randy Orton? Triple H?
Big Meh.
Well, the Show ended. Now I can turn on the Game.
holy great, merciful crap….this is bad.
I just saw Stephanie’s Aroused Face and I’m starting to turn to stone.
it’s gotta be better than her vinegar strokes.
well that was an ending to Raw
God damn it music man, you ruined this fight
Kool-Aid party at the offices of WWE Creative tonight! Everyone’s invited!
We’re here…..
But where was the boss tho.
I’m glad they let the veteran Daniel Bryan take a back seat to put over the up-and-coming Big Show. Good for them.
+1
Yeah. Did I miss HHH (or even Stephanie) backing down from Daniel Bryan at any point in the last 6 weeks?
+1
…Why did I turn the TV back on for this segment?
God, HHH is Marlow and the rest of us are the security guard he keeps shouting, “YOU WANT IT ONE WAY” at.
Well Daniel Bryan had a nice run as the most important part of the show.
:cries:
Harlequin Romance presents Steph and H in “Power Couple”.
Best for tomorrow: Orton selling the shit out of that knockout punch.
Michael Cole you have it right, he “USED TO BE THE GAME”
So….no more Wyatt’s?
HHH remembers Survivor Series 1999.
Awkward delay here.
“Steph, you’ve gotta let me dance my own battles!”
How can this financially destitute man afford a new T shirt that can conveniently be purchased at WWEshop.com?
+85
Also +1 for 85
The shirt was in the pipeline and printed before he was fired, so WWE would still sell them. He’d still receive residuals after being fired so pimping it out on national television would be the smartest thing for his pocket book he could do.

+1 for 85
Because he used the promo code PTP!
Soooo…Sandow/Cena and Show/Orton at SS, with Punk/Bryan and the Wyatts doing an elimination thing?
Assaulting people and violating restraining orders is a definite way to win lawsuits
I’ll never understand the ring psychology of waiting for a guy to stand up to hit him.
Triple H having second thoughts needs to be a Best.
