SNX: The Best Shoes Out This Week, Featuring The Return Of The Air Skylon II

Nike

This week sees SNX dominated by Nike and Adidas, but the big brands haven’t kicked out everyone. ASICS is holding strong with a Ronnie Fieg designed Gel-Kayano 5, and we have a sneaking suspicion that a few other brands may be making their SNX debut in the coming weeks — partly because we know what’s coming out in next and it’s dope. So far, the summer season has proven to have an abundance of great drops, so shop smart.

Here are the best shoes worth your money out this week, featuring the long-anticipated return of Nike’s Air Skylon II silhouette. Let’s jump in!

ASICS has teamed up with Ronnie Fieg of Kith for a full apparel collection dubbed Oasis. The highlight of the apparel collection is Fieg’s take on ASICS’s Gel-Kayano 5 silhouette and is composed of mesh, suede, and leather panels and releases in a summer-ready colorway that is clearly meant to —according to press images — get stuck halfway into the sand while you chill nearby on the beach.

Featuring swirling grey, orange, mint, and red colors, the Oasis Gel-Kayano pairs perfectly with the similarly colored apparel series — which is rounded out by t-shirts, shorts, and bucket hats featuring the simple Kith branding.

The ASICS Ronnie Fieg designed Gel-Kayano 5 “Oasis” is set to drop on July 19th at Kith shops and the Kith online store for an unannounced price.

Adidas Originals Ozweego

Size?

Look, we didn’t KNOW we needed a sneaker inspired by Oregon’s Lake Oswego until we had one! Utilizing Adidas chunky and often overlooked Ozweego Silhouette, the collaboration between Adidas Originals and size? is dressed in a colorway inspired by Lake Oswego, complete with a Western Red Cedar tree-like maroon base, earthy tones, and an aqua blue tongue.

We’re also really digging on the woven three-stripes which are meant to pay homage to the area’s indigenous peoples, and the 3M accents and EVA midsole are modern updates that keep the design looking fresh.

The Adidas Originals Ozweego Lake Oswego — what a name — is set to drop on July 19th exclusives through the size? webstore and size? physical stores. A pair will retail for $101 and run in both women’s and men’s sizes.

Air Jordan XIII

Nike

The new Air Jordan XIII is all over the place in terms of inspiration. You’ve got MJ — obviously — blank panther, AND a colorway homage to the Los Angeles Lakers. Wearing this pair says a lot! But together, the design of the latest Jordan XIII is greater than the sum of its parts and that’s really saying something.

The Jordan XIIIs feature a leather upper with suede overlays at the heel. The more and more I look at the pair, the more it resembles a couch — a weird thing to point out but I’m nothing if not honest. These are straight-up couch shoes. They’re still dope though; dope like a comfy couch.

The Air Jordan XIII in White Court/Purple is set to drop on July 19th and will retail for $190. Pick up a pair at Nike’s online store.

Nike PG 3 NASA 50th

Nike

I’ve mentioned several times on SNX that I’m a sucker for space-related shoes. Nothing has changed, and since we’re approaching the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, many shoe brands are putting out some sort of moon/space-related sneaker. Don’t think I didn’t consider making this week’s SNX all about the best NASA-inspired kicks!

Making use of the PG 3 silhouette, Nike has dipped a pair in a silver-on-silver colorway with a mesh upper, leather overlays, and special NASA and Apollo 11 branding. Why they choose the PG 3s and not some other silhouette? I can’t say, but they definitely look spacey and are dope whether you’re a Paul George fan or not.

The Nike PG 3 NASA 50th is set to drop on July 20th and will retail for $120. Pick up a pair from Nike’s online store.

Nike Fear of God Air Skylon II

Nike

Nike and Fear of God are teaming up once again for a new colorway of the long-sought-after 90s era Air Skylon II. Featuring a perforated leather tongue, a mid-sized translucent swoosh, and a toggle lacing system, the new Air Skylon II sits atop a beige sole in a beige and grey colorway and features Fear of God branding on the outer heel. It’s the least apocalyptic-looking of all the Nike Fear of God collabs and probably the most elegant looking 90s silhouette we’ve ever seen. You don’t want to miss this pair, it looks like it’ll be just as sought after as the original 90s era Skylon IIs.

The Nike Fear of God Air Skylon II will retail at $150 and is set to drop on July 18 at Nike’s online store (UK site) as well as at 43einhalb on July 20th.
