Another Chinese iPad Factory Exploded Today

In what will no doubt be covered as a story about iPad scarcity instead of a story about work conditions in China, a Chinese factory that was supposed to build iPad back panels blew up today.

The good news is that nobody has died, but 61 workers were injured and 23 had to be hospitalized. This isn’t nearly as bad as the explosion at a polishing plant last spring in Chengdu, where aluminum dust caught fire and triggered an explosion that killed three. Still, this is just another incident in a long string of them for Apple’s parts suppliers.

Hey, Apple, maybe you should work in a country that, oh, we don’t know, actually has a decent human rights record? It’s not like you can’t pass the costs on to the consumer.
