At Long Last, Here’s The First Teaser For ‘Sharknado 2: The Second One’

After teasing the world with production announcements and cast lists and set photos, Syfy has finally released the first teaser footage from Sharknado 2: The Second One, its Big Apple sequel to last summer’s big stupid wonderful phenomenon. It’s, well… it’s about what you’d expect. Ian Ziering standing on a fire truck and triumphantly raising a chainsaw to the heavens, Tara Reid looking confused (or maybe scared, it’s hard to tell with Tara Reid), notable thespians Mark McGrath and former WWE champion Kurt Angle staring into the shark-filled sky, etc. Also, at one point a shark crashes onto the sidewalk and basically splatters some poor bike-riding sap. It’s good to have you back, Sharknado.

There’s not much information about the plot yet, but my hope is that Ziering’s character, Fin, has become a minor celebrity for his role in saving Southern California in the first movie, kind of like John McClane in Die Hard 2. I also hope — again, like Die Hard 2 — there’s a gruff chief who gives Fin a hard time for no explainable reason, like “Look, I know you saved Los Angeles, Mr. Big Time Hero, but this is MY city and we do things MY way” before telling him to have a seat and let the professionals handle it. And I hope the chief is played by Dennis Franz in a surprise cameo. I like Die Hard 2, is what I’m saying.
