REPORT: CBS Has Selected British Comedian James Corden As Craig Ferguson’s Replacement

END THE SPECULATION (MAYBE): According to The Wrap, CBS has selected its replacement for Craig Ferguson at The Late Late Show: British actor, writer, and comedian James Corden.

For those of you who just read the name “James Corden” and responded “Who?,” here’s a quick primer:

  • He’s the creator of the critically-acclaimed British sitcom Gavin & Stacey
  • He won a Tony Award in 2012 for his role in One Man, Two Guvnors
  • [furiously scanning Wikipedia page for a third thing]
  • OH! He was in the excellent Hulu comedy The Wrong Mans, which I’ve recommended on this very site a few times.

He’s also just 35 years old, making him the youngest of all the incoming major network late-night hosts by a full five years. And he’s a white male, so yup, still 5/5 there, too, I guess. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Here he is on The Graham Norton Show with Paul McCartney and Katy Perry. We are learning so much today.
