John Stamos Will Star In A New Fox Sitcom, While ‘Full House’ Could Go To Netflix

Between all of the Full House nonsense that has everyone freaking out and today’s news that Bud-freaking-Bundy might be getting a spin-off more than 17 years after the last episode of Married with Children aired, the television industry’s sense of nostalgia is out of control. Of course, that doesn’t mean that we don’t want John Stamos to land new roles and be in our lives more, not that anyone’s worried about that happening. Aside from the Full House “reunion” that supposedly isn’t really a reunion as much as it’s a new story, Stamos will star in the ABC midseason drama Members Only, which absolutely has to be a fashion-themed series set in the 80s. But that sitcom that we heard about last week? That will actually go to Fox now.

According to Deadline, Fox won a bidding war over the Dan Fogelman-produced series that will revolve around Stamos as a hip, 40- or 50-something single bro who suddenly learns that he’s not only a father, but also a grandfather! *record scratch, dog covers its eyes and farts* Buried in this news, though, is the interesting tidbit that Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva has mentioned twice now, that Full House is “being considered” by Netflix. That would be yet another huge move for the streaming site, defeating the desperate networks who would probably love to ride that wave of nostalgia for a season or two before everyone involved realizes how bad of an idea a new Full House series is.

Meanwhile, the untitled “aging bro’s life turned upside down” series will be written by Daniel Chun, who wrote for The Simpsons from 2003-05, before writing six episodes of The Office, and the “Ordinary Extraordinary Love” episode of Happy Endings. I only mention that because I’ve been watching Happy Endings on YouTube all day. I miss Jane.
