Donald Trump Says The Oscars Were ‘A Great Night For Mexico, As Usual’

When Alejandro González Iñárritu accepted his Academy Award for Best Director last night, he joked that the Academy was going to impose immigration rules, referring to fellow Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron winning for Gravity last year. Then, of course, Sean Penn made his green card joke when announcing Best Picture. All jokes aside, this was no laughing matter for Donald Trump and the talking heads at Fox News.

I’m sure this will come as a huge surprise, but Donald Trump did not enjoy the Oscars last night, claiming that there was a lot of “conservative hatred,” presumably because Patricia Arquette had the nerve to say that women deserved equal pay in her acceptance speech, and right-wing favorite American Sniper lost out to Iñárritu’s Birdman.

When asked what his reaction was to American Sniper losing, Trump said:

It was a great night for Mexico, as usual — you know, this country, the whole thing is ridiculous. This guy kept getting up and up and up. What’s he doing? He’s walking away with all the gold? Was it that good? I don’t hear that. It was certainly a big night for them.

Passive aggressive translation: Movie I never bothered to see didn’t deserve to win. The Fox News peanut gallery then claimed that if a movie is “too commercial,” then people think there’s something wrong with it, but I think Trump pretty much hit the nail on the head the first time:

jerbs

Don’t worry, though. The Trumpster has a perfect solution for improving next year’s Academy Awards with a fresh new host. Guess who!
