What’s On Tonight: Family Drama On ‘Empire’ And Abbi And Ilana Get Lost In The Internet On ‘Broad City’

Empire (FOX, 9:00 p.m.) — Lucious is trying to present Empire as one big happy family while concealing his condition before the public offering, but Cookie and Anika are at war, and Hakeem and Jamal’s riff continues to grow. Hopefully we also get to see what’s going on with Jamal and Michael after Jamal failed to acknowledge their relationship in an interview. That situation surely isn’t going to be helped by Raven Symone’s bombshell, but since she isn’t listed as a guest star, I assume that plot thread is going to dangle for a little bit.

Arrow (CW, 8:00 p.m.) — Oliver and Thea wind up on Lian Yu with Deathstroke thanks to Malcolm and another familiar face returns via flashback. Look at me being cagey.

ABC Comedy Block (ABC, 8:00-10:00 p.m.) — Darrin’s proposal news leaks out on The Middle, Barry and Erica move into a van on The Goldbergs, Claire takes an upgrade to first class and leaves Phil in coach on Modern Family #SeinfeldDidItSeinfeldDidIt, and Dre does not like his daughter’s new boyfriend on black-ish. #EveryShowDidItEveryShowDidIt.

Nashville (ABC, 10:00 p.m.) — Rayna goes full “Momma-Bear” on Jeff and Teddy after she finds out that Maddie has been signed to Edgehill. Also, Gunnar and Will go bar-hopping with Luke Wheeler, who is apparently still a part of the show.

Workaholics (Comedy Central, 10:00 p.m.) When you go watch a preview clip of the next week’s episode on the Workaholics website, it tells you to get “Torqued.” This is show lingo and I don’t appreciate the fact that it is being reapportioned for marketing purposes. This episode features a mystery box and a man in a comfortable looking poncho who possesses a bag of skin melting peppers. I hope you are sufficiently torqued.

The Americans (FX, 10:00 p.m.) — It seems like tensions keep escalating every week for Philip and Elizabeth. Soon, I fear, that in keeping with the Cold War themes of the show, one of them will demand that a wall be torn down and the other will splinter into several pieces after making bad economic decisions. This joke took me five minutes and a brief refresher on Soviet history to compose. I hope you liked it.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FXX, 10:00 p.m.) — The gang experiments with going it alone after wondering if their combined chaos may be a hindrance to their growth as human people. This feels like the description for a perfectly reasonable series finale, but I’m guessing that they’re going to run in a separate direction for a moment before they violently slam back into each other like that scene with the magnet collars in Wild Wild West. Yes, that reference JUST happened.

Broad City (Comedy Central, 10:30 p.m.) — Abbi and Ilana get trapped in the Internet for an indeterminable period of time, viewing “content” that is forgettable and impossible to ignore. Welcome to my world, ladies.

Man Seeking Woman (FXX, 10:30 p.m.) — Josh finds a new girlfriend and Mike tries to scare him straight.

LATE NIGHT GUESTS: Neil Patrick Harris and Gillian Jacobs on Kimmel; Wild Wild West star Will Smith on Letterman; Matthew Perry and Nick Kroll join Thomas Lennon on The Late Late Show; Sigourney Weaver and Andy Cohen on Fallon; Kathy Griffin and Peter Sarsgaard on Meyers; and Ashton Kutcher and Jon Cryer on Conan.
