Last March, nearly a full year ago, Hannibal Buress announced on Twitter that Comedy Central had picked up a pilot for a series called Unemployable, which was basically Dirty Jobs only with Hannibal Buress. Unfortunately, Comedy Central quickly un-announced the news, and Buress later told Conan that he was just “putting his dreams out into the world” with the premature announcement.

Well, we can all finally rejoice because Comedy Central has picked up eight episodes of a series called Why? With Hannibal Buress, in which Buress will address “major cultural issues through stand-up, filmed segments, man-on-the-street interviews and interviews with in-studio guests.” The weekly, half-hour series is set to premiere in July. And you know, it’s about damn time. Buress is poised to become a huge star, and locking him down for something like this was seriously turning into a “now or never” scenario. Good job, Comedy Central.
