Kevin Spacey Will Narrate A New CNN Miniseries, Possibly Overthrow CNN While He’s There

Unless you’re a junkie for American history or a policy wonk, a CNN miniseries about past presidential campaigns might not be of any interest to you. But what if Kevin Spacey was the one telling you all about it? CNN just announced that the man who plays the very charismatic, possibly soulless President Frank Underwood will be the narrator for its six-part series Race for the White House, set to air in 2016 while the next (real) presidential race occurs. Spacey will also serve as a co-producer with his company Trigger Street alongside House of Cards producer Dana Brunetti.

Race for the White House will feature re-enactments, archival footage, and interviews. This series will be CNN’s next foray into original non-news programming after finding success with Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown and two series that debuted this month, Finding Jesus and The Wonder List with Bill Weir.

While Spacey probably won’t appear on camera in Race for the White House, it’s going to be hard not to picture him looking into the camera for silent commentary when talking about campaign trail gaffes.

Kevin Spacey House of Cards

It’s not like we’re going to watch this show and not picture Frank Underwood. Not in a year when we might get another season of House of Cards and Frank Underwood uncovers the secret to becoming God.
