Robert Kirkman Confirms Rumors Of ‘The Walking Dead’ Prequel Title

Given that The Walking Dead is one of the most watched series across any demographic, particularly the advertiser-friendly 18-49 demo, it’s no surprise that AMC is looking for ways to expand the franchise. To do so, the network recently commissioned a pilot for and ordered two seasons of a “companion series.”

Today, thanks to source material creator Robert Kirkman, the companion show finally has a name:

Fear the Walking Dead is a title that’s been rumored for a few months now, but this is the first time it’s been officially confirmed as fact. As for when we’ll get to see the first glimpses of footage from the series, the word is the first promo will drop during the airing of this week’s Talking Dead following the mother ship show’s season finale.

Fear The Walking Dead isn’t a bad title as it does have a real old school vibe to it, but it does feel sort of lazy. Like, The Dark Knight Rises lazy. Still, it’s better than something like The Walking Dead: L.A. or The Walking Dead: Special Victims Unit. Perhaps there’s a silver lining to anything.
