The Mountain From ‘Game Of Thrones’ Is Breaking All Of The Strongman World Records

Last time we checked in with Icelandic strongman Hafþór Júlíus “Thor” Björnsson, known more commonly as the large pile of rock that portrayed The Mountain on Game of Thrones, he was breaking a 1,000-year-old weightlifting record. And the time before that, he was winning the 2014 Europe’s Strongest Man contest, ripping off his shirt, and shouting “I AM THE FUTURE OF STRENGTH” into a microphone. I mean, as one does, I suppose.

Anyway, let’s see what he’s been up to lately

That is a video of Björnsson at something called “The Arnold Classic” flinging a 56-pound kettle bell over a 19’3″ bar, which is (A) insane, and (B) good for another world record! Sayeth The Mountain:

I had ups & downs at the Arnold Strongman Classic this past weekend. I did an awful mistake in the deadlift which cost me alot of points! Yesterday made me feel a little bit better though. I did a weight for height event on the main stage. I went over 19’3 with a 56lbs weight and that is a New World Record!!

So, if any of you need someone to, like, throw something really heavy over something really high and/or compete in a battle to the death on your behalf, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson continues to be your man.
