Hulu Grabs Exclusive Rights To AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ Spin Off In Another Surprising Deal

Hulu is making some big strides in recent days. Not only are they dropping the “Plus” from their paid name, they also dropped that large chunk of change for exclusive rights to Seinfeld. Now they’ve unveiled more exclusives with a surprising deal with AMC and FX for all of their future programming, including Fear The Walking Dead. Variety reports that the streamer made the announcement at their NewsFront presentation on Wednesday:

“FX and AMC are the most important contributors to the new golden age of television,” said Hulu programming chief Craig Erwich, citing a previously announced deal with FX Networks. “Our competitors have some of their libraries, but we will have all of their future.”

Toss in their recent deal with Turner, the exclusive rights to Fox’s Empire, and a slew of other purchases to prove that things are looking to be on the rise for Hulu. Amazon and Netflix have already made their statements with original programming and deals, leaving Hulu to make their jump. It isn’t clear if it’ll happen on the scale they are hoping, but having the spin-off to the most popular show on television under your banner is a big deal.
