The Penultimate Episode Of ‘Mad Mad’ Tugged At All The Heartstrings

When I started watching Mad Men, we were to assume that Betty and Pete were jerks. Now that it’s near the end, it seems like we have to feel empathy or happiness for both. It’s kinda hard not to feel for Betty, especially after this week, but it’s damn frustrating how everything worked out for Pete. A dream house, a beautiful wife… they’ll probably have lobster for dinner every night!

While in the Midwest, Don made some new Army buddies. They had some cake.

They shared some personal experiences.

Then, they thought Don stole their money.

When Don found the real thief, ooo boy was he punished.

Meanwhile, back at McCann, Duck came by to ask Pete for a favor.

This inexplicably led to Pete getting a job offer for Wichita, and he didn’t wanna go at it alone.

To which, of course, Trudy said yes.

If you weren’t already going “Awwww,” they brought up the daughter.

Also, Betty has lung cancer.

Let me try that again. Betty has lung cancer, and it’s pretty serious.

But instead of treatment, she’s gonna live out her last days as best she can.

Sally also read her mother’s last wishes (ending in an “I love you.”), which, OOF.
