Jim Bob And Michelle Duggar Opened Up To Megyn Kelly On Fox News Last Night

Wednesday night was Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s much publicized Fox News interview with Megyn Kelly on The Kelly File, which unfortunately for them came just hours after reports leaked yesterday that they knew of their son Josh’s behavior and covered it up over the course of 16 months and three confessions.

In the interview, the Duggars tried to come off as sympathetic. The couple even admitted that they didn’t try to get help until after their son confessed three times, when they realized that they could no longer deal with the situation “in house.” I’m not sure it worked, however, due to a few of the more appalling soundbites I’ve listed below.

“A lot of families have said that they’ve had similar things happen in their families.”

“Again, this was not, uh, rape or anything like that, this was like touching somebody over their clothes… there were a couple incidents where he touched them under their clothes, uh, but it was like, a few seconds…”

“It was more of his heart, his intent, he knew… that it was wrong. But in theirs, they weren’t even aware, it was like, you know, it was to them, they probably didn’t even understand that it was an improper touch.”

That’s probably because you’re supposed to teach children the difference between a good touch and a bad touch to, you know, let them know what molestation is and that it’s OK to tell an adult.

In the full interview (the above clip is only a 10-minute segment) the Duggars claim their son confessed to inappropriately touching four of his sisters in addition to a family babysitter. Still no word from TLC on what they plan to do about 19 Kids and Counting in light of this new information.
