Sean Hannity Defends Donald Trump’s Immigration Stance As ‘Not Racially Tinged’

The tables turned on Donald Trump yesterday when NBC fired him for his derogatory statements about Mexican immigrants. In doing so, NBC joined Univision in refusing to air Trump’s Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants. Trump also loses out on Celebrity Apprentice, although he claimed to have quit the show already.

NBC’s decision follows Trump’s double-down effort with Jake Tapper on Sunday, in which he clarified his previous immigration statements about how Mexico sends “criminals” and “rapists” to America. Trump told Tapper that “bad” immigrants really “come from all over,” and “it’s not Mexicans, necessarily.” Then, NBC pulled the plug.

Sean Hannity thinks Trump got a raw deal. Speaking on his Monday radio show, Hannity said Trump’s words had nothing to do with race:

“We’ve got a problem in this country. If [Trump] can make that statement and CNN refers to it as ‘racially-tinged.’ Floor to ceiling drugs confiscated by people crossing our southern border. You want to talk about crime? Well what do you think — who’s coming from Latin America and Mexico? Are they rich, successful Mexicans, Nicaraguans, El Salvador residents? No! Why would they leave if they’re so successful? It’s people who have not had opportunity in Mexico and so they will raise all this money and give it to these human traffickers, human traffickers take full advantage of them, take every penny they’ve got and then maybe get them across the border in a perilous journey.”

Hannity believes that every person on this planet (including the “best and brightest”) wants to come to America, but the “flood” must be stopped. You can listen to his speech here.
