Showtime Will Be The First Premium Cable Channel Featured On Hulu

Earlier this month, we reported on Showtime‘s plans to release their own standalone service to the public. In a move to expand the network’s viewership, their content will soon be available to watch on Hulu, but for an added price:

The 9 million subscribers who pay $7.99 a month for Hulu will be able to add Showtime for $8.99 a month when it launches in early July — ahead of the July 12 premieres of Ray Donovan and Masters Of Sex.

It’s worth noting the Showtime standalone service will cost $10.99 on its own, so accessing through Hulu might really be the way to go. With the Twin Peaks revival series set to premiere next year, as well as plans to bring a new 8-episode miniseries of Stephen King’s The Stand to the channel, this move may indeed be a smart one for both the network and streaming service alike.

Matthew Blank, Showtime Networks CEO added in a statement, “Hulu is an important launch partner for Showtime as we continue to expand our service across new platforms and distributors, reaching new consumers wherever a broadband connection is available.”
