The ‘Agent Carter’ Bosses Are Teasing Season Two’s Hollywood Shift

Thanks to Marvel‘s benevolence and a passionate and vocal fanbase, Agent Carter will be returning for a second season at midseason on ABC. Alongside star Hayley Atwell, James D’Arcy, Enver Gjokaj, and Chad Michael Murray have all signed on to return for the upcoming season. While many of the faces will be familiar, the location will be drastically different, as the show will be moving from New York City to Los Angeles.

While Peggy and her fellow agents will still be working at the SSR, the change in location is bound to shake things up. Entertainment Weekly sat down with executive producers Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas to discuss what fans can expect.

Butters: “Obviously glamour. You’re dealing with Old Hollywood, but also, it’s weirdly the kind of place where [there’s] a burgeoning scientific community—you had JPL back then and the nuclear testing in the desert. So it’s a great place for us, location-wise, so you can see so many different parts of glamour and grit.”

A major conflict in season one of Agent Carter was Peggy’s constant struggle with sexism in the SSR offices and her continued quest to prove her worth. While those these themes will continue, Butters and Fazekas want to make sure they aren’t telling the same story all over again.

Butters: “We don’t want to hit the same story beats. She is respected amongst her peers, and she is working an SSR case through the course of the second season. She will have other challenges in this season regarding sexism.”

While the Winter Soldier program was hinted at in the finale, it appears that the show will be headed in a different direction in season two. However, the producers tease at familiar villains for comics fans. Whether or not fan favorites Angie Martinelli (Lyndsy Fonseca) Dottie Underwood (Bridget Regan) would be returning for the upcoming season still remains to be seen. Either way, fans certainly have a lot to look forward to when Agent Carter saunters back on screen.
