Progress On Tracy Morgan’s FXX Series Continues Amidst His Recovery: ‘He Wants To Do It’

2013 Billboard Music Awards - Show

Tracy Morgan continues to make steady progress after the horrific car accident that killed one of his friends and nearly killed him as well. To be certain, recovery has been difficult, as Morgan suffered a broken leg and ribs along with head trauma. There’s also a hefty emotional recovery in process too, but there’s good news on the horizon. Morgan made an appearance at SNL studios in June. This past week, he stepped out for a Yankees game without using a cane.

Television bosses feel optimistic that Morgan will recover enough to take on the lead role in his FXX comedy series. Deadline Reports that writing continues on the series with Morgan hoping to star:

“We know he wants to do it,” FX Networks CEO John Landgraf told Deadline at TCA today, reiterating the company’s commitment to the series and its willingness to wait as long as it takes for Morgan to fully recover. I hear that Morgan does intend to do the FXX comedy series, and he has been in communication with the project’s writer, Chris Case. “We continue to work on developing the script,” said FX president of original programming Eric Schrier.

All signs point to the worst in Morgan’s recovery being over, and the series should be a winner. The show is officially “back on track,” but the time frame remains ambiguous. The show will arrive courtesy of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia creators Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton. Let’s hope Morgan can make a full comeback to comedy greatness.
