If you consider yourself a sophisticated adult with a strong sensibility for the finest arts, then you know who Turd Ferguson is. If you’ve been living in a refrigerator in a junkyard for 30 years, then you really need to get caught up on Saturday Night Live’s old Celebrity Jeopardy! sketches, because Norm MacDonald’s Burt Reynolds impression and big yellow hat are what made Turd Ferguson a household name. But every once in a while, when the planets align and the gods decide to reward us, Ol’ Turd makes his way back into our lives.
In this case, a Jeopardy! contestant named Talia showed up on Wednesday’s show and won our hearts by actually getting host Alex Trebek to say the name Turd Ferguson with her Final Jeopardy answer: “What is the Love Ballad of Turd Ferguson?” It was truly, without a doubt, one of the finest moments in the history of this or any other game show, and Talia deserves every last second of her incoming internet fame.
Now, of course, we must deal with the fact that there is no actual “Love Ballad of Turd Ferguson.” Someone should really work on making that song a reality. Looking at you, Dave Grohl.
