AMC Is Bringing Critical Darling ‘Halt And Catch Fire’ Back For A Third Season

Score one for the good guys. Despite anemic ratings, AMC has decided to bring back its critically acclaimed 1980s tech drama Halt and Catch Fire for a 10-episode third season. President of original programming Joel Stillerman announced the news today.

“While not large, Halt and Catch Fire‘s audience is extremely passionate and upscale, and we are pleased with the critical momentum the show has. We love what the creative team and cast have been able to deliver and are particularly grateful to the critics and fans who supported the show throughout the second season and have been pulling for its renewal.”

The renewal comes with a few changes. First, as teased at the end of season two, the setting of the new season will change from Texas to Silicon Valley, which makes sense given the tech start-up nature of the series. And second, the show’s co-creators, Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C. Rogers, will step in as showrunners, replacing Jonathan Lisco, who is leaving to work on a long-developing passion project called Animal Kingdom.

If you were one of the many, many people who skipped Halt and Catch Fire this season, it really did get quite good. And now you have plenty of time to get caught up before the new season. Big day for you.
