Never say that Norman Reedus isn’t a man of many talents and interests. The Walking Dead star and motorcycle junkie also has a deep appreciation for art and photography. He’s just opened up an exhibit at Voila Gallery in Los Angeles of photographs he’s taken, which include everything from candid shots of castmembers and zombies on The Walking Dead to roadkill stuffed with candy and Fruit Loops. Here he is talking to Variety about it:
“It’s sort of a yearbook of my life. Every single photo has a completely different story … I’ve had a lot of opportunity to travel to a lot of cool places I wouldn’t have been able to if I wasn’t acting. … I started doing a lot of interviews about Greg Nicotero’s work and what made his zombies scary and monsters scary. It had a lot to do with seeing the lives lost behind the monster. I would ride my motorcycle through Georgia to work and there’s so much roadkill in Georgia that I sorta stopped and started doing portraits of roadkill. I could see the same sort of scared animal behind that.”
“I end up hanging out with a lot of zombies and for some reason it kinda started off as a joke me flipping off the camera and then it turned into can you please flip me off for this selfie. It’s become sort of a thing. That, and licking people. Which is actually in the Urban Dictionary, it’s called a Reedus to lick somebody’s face now which is weird.”
That’s what Norman Reedus finds weird? Two seconds later, he’s calmly talking about how Scott Wilson (who played Hershel) sent him his ponytail, which he keeps in his fridge alongside a baggie of Andrew Lincoln’s beard shavings. Because why not? Isn’t that just where you keep hair? No word on if all the breast implants fans have given him are in there as well. For all we know, he could be building up a collection of stuff and thangs that would make the Governer’s pickle collection look tame.
