On Saturday evening, David Spade got a little political with TMZ on the subject of Barack Obama. In this video, Spade can be seen leaving a Hollywood restaurant that is favored by the paparazzi for its usual batch of celebrity clientele. Spade doesn’t mind nurturing his movie star reputation, and he seldom holds back while ripping into others or himself, but Spade also softens up for those he loves. Spade doesn’t show much love for Obama.

Spade appears to take issue with Obama’s cover feature on GQ as well reality show stints (such as his slobber-filled jaunt on Man vs. Wild). Yes, it’s true that Obama’s second term has been filled with such appearances, and he will soon guest on Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. Spade can’t handle this type of president:

“A president should have a little more dignity … what president is doing reality shows? It just sounds weird to me. It’s too much. I think Michelle Obama’s on Ellen more than I am. It’s just a new world, I’m not used to it. It just seems a bit thirsty to me, that’s all. I think they’re sort of plotting after the White House.”

These sentiments aren’t new, as Spade previously wondered aloud on Twitter why Obama rubbed elbows with Bear Grylls.

Spade implies that the Barack and Michelle are laying the groundwork for a high-rolling return to civilian life. Perhaps this is simply the new digital age at work. Everyone wants to go viral, and that includes a president with approval ratings on the brain. This doesn’t make Spade happy, but he’s free to speak his mind. Will Obama be remembered by history as a viral president? Who knows, but as an example of how seriously Spade treats history, here he is dressed as General George Custer for Adam Sandler’s Ridiculous Six.
