SNL needed to get someone from the record-breaking Star Wars: The Force Awakens to host. After BB-8 passed and Harrison Ford grumbled something about already having plans, they settled on Adam Driver, who’s also out there promoting the new season of HBO’s Girls. Oscar Isaac, the internet’s new boyfriend, or Daisy Ridley, who guest-starred in a previous episode with John Boyega, might seem like the more obvious choices, but Driver was really funny in Inside Llewyn Davis (“UH OH”) and he’s been nominated for three straight Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series Emmys.
He also really gets along with Kate McKinnon, until she steals his last french fry. Then it’s lightsabers a-blazing. To be fair, that’s one of the worst things a person can do to another human — it’s even more sinister than spoiling The Force Awakens on your car. Anyway, expect a lot of Star Wars jokes this Saturday, and probably one sketch that makes fun of the nudity on Girls.
Not that Driver would know.
