Even The Crew Of ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ Can’t Tell The Actors Apart

American Horror Story: Hotel is a surreal, creepy mess chock full of serial-killer tea parties, a recurring character who is only a drillbit dildo demon, Lady Gaga as a sort-of-vampire Countess, and a lot of actors who look suspiciously similar. Perfectly normal things, these. As for the last one, the similar appearance of Matt Bomer, Wes Bentley, Finn Wittrock, Max Greenfield, and Cheyenne Jackson has led to some funny developments. One such development is that I didn’t list those actor names in the same order as they appear in the picture above, and you probably didn’t even notice.

Another joke you may have seen was this riff on the white-washed supposed biopic of the Stonewall riots, Stonewall:

Vulture spoke to Cheyenne Jackson about that viral side-by-side comparison photo. He says he asked Wes Bentley what he thinks it means and was told, “Well, I’m sure they are going to explain it.” Yes, Lady Gaga’s Countess has a type, and it’s apparently strapping, dark-haired white dudes with “a jawline for days” (as she described a heroin-overdosed Matt Bomer in the premiere episode). Or Ryan Murphy is just assembling his dream cast of boys, and I really can’t hate the player there.

When Vulture asked Jackson if he’s ever really been confused with any of the other four actors, he effortlessly conjured an example:

“I remember my second day on set, one of the [assistant directors] was like, ‘Here, can you sign out here, Finn?’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m not Finn.’ And he’s like, ‘Oh, I’m sorry, Matt.’ And I’m like, ‘Nope. It’s Cheyenne, actually.’ ”

I would laugh hysterically at this, but then I remembered I’ll never be confused for Finn Wittrock or Matt Bomer and now I’m sad.
