Get Your Week Started Off Right With This Man’s Majestic Hat On ‘Antiques Roadshow’

Late last week Antiques Roadshow posted the above clip on their Facebook page, which went under the radar until now because it is located on the Antiques Roadshow Facebook page. It’s not even from a new episode of Antiques Roadshow, as a graphic on the screen identifies it as 2014 “vintage Tampa,” but that is completely besides the point because for one thing it’s a slow news day and for another thing, omg, you need to watch this.

The man in the video (whose name is unfortunately not given) did not come to Antiques Roadshow for an appraisal, but nevertheless found himself the subject of a segment thanks to his amazing, downright magical hat covered in sparkly rhinestone costume jewelry. He tells the appraiser that he inherited the pieces from an aunt, and made the hat because he had no way of exhibiting them. Obviously, it would be silly for a man to wear ladies brooches.

He explains, “I wanted to wear them and show them so that people that collect jewelry would be fascinated by it. I wear it on very special occasions, and I thought today would be a very festive day to wear it.” Well, he certainly got our attention!

Then the appraiser spins him around like an actual item she’s appraising, which results in this moment I captured in GIF form so we can enjoy it forever:

The hat ended up being worth $1,500 to $2,000, if you’re wondering, which is clearly nothing compared to the enjoyment value this man gets out of his wonderful, fancy hat. Everyone should have something in their lives that they love as much as he loves his hat.
