Axl Rose Was Shockingly Normal, Bought Everyone Burgers On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose made his first live late night show appearance in over 20 years last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and despite some slightly tense one-word answers, he was…pretty normal, or at least normal for the guy who gave us this. THAT WASN’T WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR. I expected no less than Axl weighing 500 pounds, then frequently halting his interview to try to dance while shouting out random nonsense that roughly resembles “My Michelle.” Then Buckethead would play the solo from “Coma” for 28 minutes.

Instead, he poked fun at his image, answering fan questions about his infamous cornrows and punctuality issues. (For what it’s worth, I saw Guns N’ Roses earlier this year, and they were right on time.) Axl also discussed his Halloween Tree, an elaborate and brilliant prank he played on kids around the neighborhood. The interview ended with Axl getting his Oprah on by buying the audience hamburgers, which is just perfect. It’s a shame 30 Rock‘s ending so soon — he’s one self-aware guest spot away from being honest-to-God likable.
