Technology Is Still Ruining Our Lives In The First Images Of ‘Black Mirror’ On Netflix

Most Americans caught onto the existential pain that is Black Mirror when the first two seasons hit Netflix last year, leading us all to wonder if the technology we so depend on is in fact killing us (probably!). Netflix ended up picking up the show for a third season exclusively on the streaming site, which was excellent news, considering how good most of their Original Content has been. While the new season doesn’t drop until October 21, Netflix did release a handful of new images today to give fans a tiny glimpse into what’s to come.

The first episode of the season, “San Junipero,” will be directed by Misfits director Owen Harris, and will star Mackenzie Davis (Halt And Catch Fire) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beyond The Lights). From the look of these new images, we’re headed back to the ’80s. However, instead of just big hair and cocaine, it looks like the tone will be a bit more menacing (classic Black Mirror).

Sure, it could just be about two young besties trying to make their way through a complex world of dating, new jobs, and being an adult, but that just wouldn’t be the Black Mirror we have come to love and fear.

Fans also got a glimpse of the third episode of the season, “Nosedive,” which will star Bryce Dallas Howard and Alice Eve. Co-written by Rashida Jones and Mike Schur and directed by Atonement‘s Joe Wright, this episode will explore identity in a world deeply entrenched in social media.

While this first glimpse doesn’t offer much information at all, that’s honestly the best way to approach Black Mirror. The horrific twists are better left experienced.
