Fresh off winning a GLAAD Award for her E! reality series I Am Cait, Caitlyn Jenner has landed a role on season three of the critically acclaimed Amazon dramedy Transparent. Current details about what character she will be playing or how many episodes she will appear in are sparse, but creator Jill Solloway has confirmed that Jenner starts filming scenes soon. Solloway also told ABC News that having Jenner be a part of the Emmy-winning show is “a dream come true” and that it was pretty easy to get her on board, seeing as there is a lot of crossover between Transparent and I Am Cait as far as trans actors, writers, and behind the scenes contributors are concerned.

Jenner, the recipient of this year’s Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYS and Glamour Woman of the Year Award, has been vocal in her support for trans rights and representation. That outlook is a great fit for Transparent, which centers on Jeffrey Tambor’s “Maura,” a recently transitioned father of three, and the process she goes through to explore her new identity and navigate life, family, and public perception. That this is Caitlyn’s first acting gig on a scripted show post-transition seems appropriate, if only due to the parallels between her own life and the show. It will be exciting to see what character Jenner portrays and her work on the show when the season finally airs.
