Did You Catch The Lightning Fast Tribute To Marcia Wallace In This Sunday’s ‘Simpsons’ Couch Gag?

Did you see it? The brief tribute to Marcia Wallace, the voice of Edna Krabappel, during the Christmas-themed credits of this Sunday’s episode of The Simpsons? I’ll answer that for you: No you did not. Luckily, the good folks at IGN did. Right at about the 1:14 mark there’s a super-quick pan across the town, and if you set the video to 720p or 1080p and freeze it at juuuuuuuuuust the right moment, you’ll see this, crystal clear:

A little explanation, via E! Online:

In the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it scene, Mrs. Krabappel is featured as angel with her signature no nonsense arm-crossed stance next to late Simpsons writer Don Payne.

“[W]e wanted to do a tribute to two terrific people, Marcia and Don,” Simpsons executive producer Al Jean told E! News in a statement. “The episode was sadly, Don’s last.”

Well that is really very sweet. I like to think there’s a real Angel Mrs. Krabappel up there in heaven, looking down on us, and letting out a few good “HAs” at our collective expense every now and then. That would make me happy.
