Last month, we learned The CW had greenlit a pilot for Cheerleader Death Squad, coming from Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives), Neal Baer (Under the Dome, Law & Order: SVU), Dan Truly (Law & Order: SVU), and Sabrina Wind (Desperate Housewives). Combine those resumes in a blender, add some ass-kicking cheerleaders and the glossiness of The CW, and press puree for something that’s either going to be amazing or amazingly ridiculous, perhaps both.

Deadline now reports that Gia Mantegna has been cast as one of the cheerleaders in the titular Death Squad. They also provide a synopsis:

It centers on a disgraced CIA agent-turned-teacher at an elite Washington, D.C. prep school. When he realizes that his students have high-level access through personal connections, he trains a select few to be his eyes and ears into the world of international espionage and help him earn his way back into the agency.

We’re going to picture Danny McBride as the CIA agent until The CW inevitably casts someone else and disappoints us all.
