Chelsea Handler Gives Her Support To Nancy Pelosi For The ‘No Fly, No Buy’ Initiative

On Wednesday, House Democrats engaged in a daylong sit-in to try and get gun control to the floor for a vote. Before that, House minority leader Nancy Pelosi sat down with Chelsea Handler to talk about two gun control bills that would ban people on the no-fly list from purchasing guns, and expanding background checks, measures that are similar to the ones voted down in the Senate on Monday.

As you can see in the clip above, Pelosi appeared on Handler’s Netflix talk show, wearing a rainbow wristband for the victims in the Orlando nightclub shooting, and for Gay Pride Month in general. She said that the House was trying to get the “no fly, no buy” and “reasonable background check” measures passed because of this shooting, an effort that Handler applauded at and thanked Pelosi for.

The Daily Beast reports that Pelosi emphasized that the majority of Americans support these provisions, and blamed the lack of a vote on House Speaker Paul Ryan: “We have the votes,” Pelosi insisted, hitting Ryan for blocking the measures “even though the public and the [House] members want them to pass.”

While the House sit-in ended without any resolution, and Ryan seems unlikely to budge on not allowing gun control bills to come to a vote, this hopefully isn’t the end of the House Democrats’ efforts on this issue. Hopefully this means that Pelosi will continue to troll the speaker with hilarious fake press releases.
