Chris Martin’s Carpool Karaoke With James Corden Got Very Cozy And Shouted Out David Bowie

The Late Late Show just invited Coldplay’s Chris Martin on for another segment of their fantastic Carpool Karaoke. Although it could never hope to reproduce the magic of Adele’s amazing karaoke, it was still a fun sketch. Certainly on par with some of the other karaoke performances with One Direction, Carrie Underwood, Justin Bieber (twice), Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart, Iggy Azalea, Jennifer Hudson, and Mariah Carey.

The sketch starts with the premise that Chris Martin needs a ride to the Super Bowl, where Coldplay will be performing (and will assuredly be upstaged by Beyoncé). James Corden reluctantly offers a ride, quizzing Martin on how American football works, asking for a sample of his Mick Jagger impression, stopping at a kid’s lemonade stand for a drink so loaded with sugar that Martin “wants to punch an elephant,” and even covering a bit of David Bowie’s “Heroes.”

Yep, they sang some Bowie. So, if you were wondering, Chris Martin probably isn’t holding a grudge about the time Bowie refused to do a duet with him because — in Bowie’s words — “It’s not a very good song, is it?”

If only there were some really weepy music Martin could listen to for solace after that brutal honesty.
