Coming This Christmas: A ‘Big Bang Theory’ Star Will Voice Buddy In A Stop-Motion ‘Elf’ Musical

Hey, you like Elf, right? The adorable 2003 Christmas movie starring Will Ferrell as an overgrown, sugar-craving elf who travels from the North Pole to New York City to reunite with his biological father? Of course you do! Now, what if I told you they were taking that thing you love and turning it into an animated stop-motion TV special for NBC this Christmas? And that it’s a musical now? And that they’re replacing Will Ferrell with the voice of Jim Parsons from The Big Bang Theory? Why am I bringing all this up? Oh, no reason…

NBC announced today that Jim Parsons will voice Buddy the Elf in a stop-motion animated special, Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas. Based on the film and Broadway musical, the one-hour special will follow Buddy’s exploits as he travels to New York City in search of the father he never knew.

Santa, played by Ed Asner in the original film and who will be part of the new special’s voice cast, will narrate the story as Buddy shows everyone he meets that the best way to bring Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear. [EW]

This entire production sits upon a throne of lies.
