A Familiar Face Is Heading Back To ‘New Girl’ (For A Little While Anyway)

Proving the rule that there will always be a place for Coach on the veteran Fox comedy New Girl, word has arrived that we’ll be seeing the semi-regular character pop up once again before season five is through.

TV Line reports that Damon Wayans Jr. is going to appear in two upcoming episodes, including a certain wedding-themed season finale. Wayans has been on the show before in a variety of capacities, ranging from a spot in the pilot to a run as a series regular in season four. Cast members Jake Johnson and Max Greenfield got all riled up passing the news along on Instagram. (It’s a skosh intense, to be honest.) If you’re the sort of person that likes to keep track of “vibe” reports from the New Girl set, you’ll be happy to know that Johnson says everyone’s “jacked” for Wayans’ return.

This news is all well and good for fans of Zooey Deschanel’s single-camera comedy, but Happy Endings cultists are still fantasizing about that dream world where Wayans will come back home to their network comedy. Granted, Happy Endings has been in the dirt for about three years now, but the ache is still there.
