Just a week after Snake Salvation star Pastor Jamie Coots met his demise after being bitten by a poisonous snake and refusing treatment — his son Pastor Cody Coots (seriously his real name?) danced and held the same snake that killed his father with his bare hands at their church, the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus Name in Middlesboro, Kentucky. I guess Mr. Snakey is going to go two for two? From The Huffington Post:
“For me to step down on those things that [my dad] taught me, I don’t know if he would come back out of his grave and slap me clean across the face,” he said. “That’s how much he believed in it. I mean he was that strong in it. He believed in it enough he died for it, so I won’t step down for anyone.”
That, it seems, also includes mimicking his dad’s decision to refuse medical attention if he happens to be bitten by a poisonous snake.
The beautiful irony here is that this is a perfect example of Darwinism hard at work, despite the fact that these people don’t believe in that AT ALL. TMZ has video of the sermon below, because while they don’t believe in science, free publicity is A-OK. I’m pretty sure it’s in the bible somewhere.
