Donald Trump Will Be A ‘Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ Guest

The Tuesday, September 22 episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will be appointment viewing for us all. That’s when Stephen Colbert will have Donald Trump on as a guest.

As Newsweek reports, Colbert staffers tried to book Trump for the comedian’s premiere in David Letterman’s former seat, but Trump declined in favor of appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Second choice Hillary Clinton also decided to go with the NBC late night host. Jeb Bush guested on The Late Show premiere instead.

Colbert must be so excited to have Trump as a guest on his show, especially after spending a whole segment trying to catch up on a summer’s worth of Trump stories. Now he can ask the presidential candidate about his ban on eating Oreos, and about whether his hat is giving him the advantage in the polls.

Colbert may not be hosting a political spoof show anymore, but he’s still booking a lot of guests who are in politics. U.S. Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz will appear on the show after Trump, while Senator Elizabeth Warren will appear a day after. He’s also having writer Andrew Sullivan and Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai guest as well.

For a complete list of guests during Trump week, see this tweet from New York Times reporter David Itzkoff.
