‘Game Of Thrones’ Wants You To Vote In 2016’s Most Important Election: Who Should Sit On The Iron Throne?

Speaking at the Democratic National Convention last week, Empire creator Lee Daniels called this the “most important election of our lifetime.” If it seems like every election is the most important of our lifetime, you’re not wrong, but it still feels like this year matters more than the most. If the wrong candidate wins, things could get ugly in a hurry. So, who are you campaigning for: Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister, or Petyr Baelish?

Oh, you thought I was talking about the 2016 United States presidential election? Nah, that’s too hard to watch. Besides, all Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton have to worry about is global and domestic terrorism, the economy, healthcare, and guns — that’s nothing compared to ice zombies. Earlier today, HBO launched the timely Game of Thrones Party (#GOT2016), which asks fans to “cast your vote to pick your side in the great wars to come.”

The four candidates, with their respective platforms and veeps, are:

Daenerys/Tyrion

-Freedom for the Known World
-Rebuilding the Dragon Population
-Uniting Essos and Westeros
-Female Empowerment
-Restoring her Divine Right to the Seven Kingdoms

Jon Snow/Lyanna

-Northern Sovereignty
-Rebuilding the Night’s Watch
-Allowing the Free Folk to Settle the Gift
-Inheritance Rights of Illegitimate Children
-Preparing for the Long Night

Cersei/Qyburn

-Bailing Out the Iron Bank
-Pro Trial by Combat
-Separation of Church and Crown
-Family Advocacy
-Revising Line of Succession to the Iron Throne

Littlefinger/Sansa

-Small Business Growth
-Reducing Debt to the Iron Bank
-Diplomatic Ties to the North
-Innovation in Transportation

I’m in favor of Cersei’s church and crown policy, and Jon does have Lyanna in his corner, but… yeah, I think I’m going to vote for the person with the dragons. I’m apparently in the minority (#WereNotWithHer?) because as of publishing, Dany is getting trounced by Jon Snow, 58% to 34%. Littlefinger is in last place, but cheer up: at least you made it further than Chris Christie.
