The ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season Six Trailer Is Finally Here

“I choose violence.”

We had to wait a little longer than we’re used to, but it was all worth it, because HBO has finally released the trailer for Game of Thrones‘ sixth season, which means Game of Thrones season six is almost here! It’s a moody preview of a very “mental” season that Emilia Clarke promises will have “the biggest moments on television that have ever existed.” The trailer begins with a dark closeup of Jon Snow where we left him, bleeding out into the snow, and ends with Davos Seaworth apologizing to his lifeless (or not?) corpse.

Oh boy.

As for the song choice, it’s a cover of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” by James Vincent McMorrow. Is it a little too on the nose? Of course; it’s like using a song by the Zombies for a Walking Dead trailer. But does it work? Yup — “the world was on fire and no one could save me but you” could have been written by George R.R. Martin, and sung by Bronn. To the most beautiful woman in the world, naturally. And judging by the trailer, Cersei is now the most confident woman in the world. April 24th, when the new season premieres on HBO (along with Veep and Silicon Valley), can’t get here soon enough.
