Tom Hanks was his normal delightful self on Letterman last night while promoting the latest installment in his epic series of ordinary-guy-in-extraordinary-situation movies, Captain Phillips. He ribbed Dave about going overboard on his commitment with the new CBS contract, but the highlight of the drop-in easily came when Hanks described working with the actors who play Somali Pirates in the new film.
Let’s just say, they all have all the Bubba Gump swag they can wear now.

I just don’t get what the movie could be about…the captain went against orders and put his crew in danger what exactly is the story here.
I’d much rather see a movie from the pirates’ point of view. The trailers make this look like a horror movie where the monsters are destitute black men.
I’m fascinated by this film purely because it’s not loaded with known professional Hollywood names. Just Hanks and a bunch of guys.
