Joe Biden: 'Will & Grace' Taught America Being Gay Is OK

Over the weekend, Vice President Joe Biden appeared on “Meet the Press” to discuss his thoughts on, among other things, gay marriage. He remarked that he is “absolutely comfortable” with “men marrying men and women marrying women,” becoming the highest ranking U.S. official to say so. He also believes our “social culture” is ready to accept gay marriage because of a certain NBC sitcom. No, not “The Mike O’ Malley Show.”

I think “Will & Grace” probably did more to educate the American public than almost anything anybody’s ever done so far. And I think— people fear that which is different. Now they’re beginning to understand. They’re beginning to understand that this as a base. (Via)

Biden went on to say, “And that Jack McFarland, without him, America wouldn’t have known that gays are just like you and me. They like Cher, we like Cher. They collect celebrity hair, we collect celebrity hair. They’re vain and self-obsessed, we’re vain and self-obsessed. They stalk Kevin Bacon, we stalk…what was my point again?”
