It was only a matter of time before Jon Stewart and the folks at The Daily Show got around to covering Pointergate, the very, very stupid controversy over whether a mayor flashed “a gang sign” by pointing at a black voter in a publicity photo. The story was practically tailor-made for them. It’s got everything: a stupid nothing of a story getting turned into a scandal, people using race as a fear trigger, corrupt and/or disingenuous members of law enforcement trying to smear an elected official who opposed them, a controversy-crazed local media running with it and making it an issue, etc. The stars really aligned on this one.

So, yeah. Let’s go ahead and consider this video a teeny tiny paper-thin silver lining wrapped around a big ol’ hunk of poo. You are welcome for that visual.
