Nineties-flavored crime sagas have become 2016’s hottest television commodity. Arriving on the heels of the finale of FX’s American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson and NBC’s plans for a series looking at the Menéndez Brothers comes word that CBS will also be exploring a tabloid-beckoning case from the few decades back.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is sorting out a deal for a JonBenét Ramsey focused series as the first installment of a true crime anthology series. The program, which does not have a title as of yet, is said to be positioned for a potential debut this fall. The unsolved case of the murdered 6-year-old beauty pageant star appears likely for a limited episode run and if the show proves successful there will be other cases covered in future seasons. Tom Fontana and Critical Content will produce.

THR notes that the program will “re-unite the original investigators in the Ramsey case as well as new experts who all re-examine the unsolved case from 20 years ago” and serve as an unscripted offering. We’re currently in the midst of a true crime boom with American Crime Story, Making a Murderer and Serial (which is TV bound) attracting obsessed audiences. Fascination attached to Ramsey’s murder has never seemed to go away, but we’ll have to wait and see if America is still gorging on the genre when CBS brings the program to air.
