Larry David Gives The Most Larry David Promo He Can For This Week’s ‘SNL’

Larry David was once a writer on SNL for a single, disastrous year –for him — but his experiences produced one of the greatest storylines for Seinfeld ever. Legend has it, after a particularly difficult day at 30 Rock in which more of his sketches were cut from the show, Larry David stood up exasperated and screamed, “That’s it! I quit!” Then walked out the doors to freedom. He only realized moments later that he needed the job and the money, so he talked to his neighbor Kenny Kramer (who Kramer was based on) what to do. The duo that would later be known as George and Kramer conferred and decided to go into work on Monday pretending nothing happened. It worked.

Now, decades later, Larry David is a regular face on SNL, playing Bernie Sanders and in general enjoying his time as one of the most prolific comedians ever. It’s strange to think, but Larry David couldn’t even get a sketch he wrote on the air, now he’s hosting Saturday Night Live. It’s probably the most Larry David thing that’s ever happened to Larry David. It’s pretty, pretty, pretty good. And so is this promo that makes Larry David extremely uncomfortable and aggravated. The way it should be.
